The American Legion is organized into 55 Departments, with one Department for each State.
Each Department has general supervision over Post within that jurisdiction.
The Department provides administrative support to each Post within it's jurisdiction for Post Administratiom/operations, memberships processing, providing updated Veteran news, Sponsored Veterans programs and much more.
